Dazzling Dubai

One of my loved ones lives in Dubai, so as a family we thought we would make the trip out there, which suited me just fine. A week in luxury......YES PLEASE.!!!!
What does this have to do with jewellery you may ask? Well it my not be Hatton Garden  but boy do they know how to wear and sell big rocks and drape buildings in decadence making everything sparkle or gold. The Burj Khalifa case and point.

I stayed in the Jumeirah Palm Hotel which didn't disappoint. The entrance was complete with vaulting ceilings and a fountain. Almost every inch was gold or jewel like. It was pretty perfect for someone who is obsessed with jewellery.

I felt right at home in my room, and jumped for joy when I saw my bath.  After almost an hour running it I was able to jump in....

Now to the good stuff............JEWELLERY.
The Dubai Mall has almost every jewellery brand you can think of, I'm talking about the heavy weights.

Harry Winston - After spying the perfect cushion cut emerald and diamond ring in the window I had to go straight in.....I very nicely asked if I could try it on and was quickly informed it was £2.5million, trust me to want their most expensive piece. It was glued to my finger for the best part of five minutes. Sadly I was told no photos. SHOCK HORROR, so I had to take one through the window, not quite the same I know.

Next stop De Beers aka the holy grail for diamonds, I went straight for the most sparkly classic necklace that I could see a diamond Rivière necklace (Rivière meaning river, describing anything in french automatically adds romance and glamour to an item ;-).)

GRAFF - Not many words are needed, this 5 carat canary yellow whopper speaks for itself,  ill take the matching necklace pendant also please....

Final stop Tiffany - A haven, clean, white with hints of that iconic duck egg blue. Tiffany always offer an exceptional customer service experience. They always let me try on what every I want with no judgement.....total heaven. My selection was this cushion cut diamond ring, cushion cuts are my favourite there is kind of less in your face quality to them I think it's the way the facets reflect the light. I stood there for to long dreaming it was mine, doing the maths in my head trying desperately to figure out a payment plan. Needless to say I couldn't make it work realistically.

About me

My love affair with jewellery began the moment I saw Richard Gere give Julia Roberts that diamond and ruby necklace in Pretty Woman

It was like my inner smeagle (lord of the rings for those that don't know) came to life and the obsession for all things precious began.

Hop skip and jump a few year later I've studied Gemmology, become a Diamond grader and specialise in redesigning jewellery at my job. Suffice to say I turned my love into a career and now I want to share that love with you.
